About ISPO Türkiye

National Committee of the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics

History

ISPO Türkiye is a perfect example of how the dynamism and passion of a team has enabled continuing fruitful cooperation with the Turkish Scientific Association of Prosthetics and Orthotics (TPOBD) and the other P&O Societies in Türkiye. The creation of ISPO Türkiye dates back in 1997 when representatives of the P&O profession held their first gatherings. In 2004 the then called 'Committee' obtained an official national status.

Education & Standards

High P&O Education (University level) is given by seven of the Vocational Schools of Health located in the country. In addition to the two-year university P&O education course, there is also an orthopedic technical high school providing secondary school education. An Orthopedic Prosthetics and Orthotics program fulfilling the requirements of the Ministry of Health of Türkiye was launched in June 2010 at the Ankara University. Successful participants to the program have now integrated private P&O manufacturing companies and fitting application centers as responsible managers. Together with TPOBD, ISPO Türkiye worked to update TSE 13181, the Turkish Standard for 'P&O Manufacturing and Fitting Rules' which was last updated in April 2011.
